You know you are way too addicted to your phone when your battery runs out at least twice a day. You might try to stay away from the phone but the different notification dings end your resolution. 😂
*beep beep beep* “Oh, that’s Whatsapp”
*plink plonk* “Yay! I have a new WordPress notification!”
*cling clang* “Hmm. Wonder what’s happening on Twitter”.
*bzzt bzzzt* “Ohh. Someone must have messaged me on hike!”
You know you are in trouble when you can identify all the different notification ringtones that you’ve assigned to all the apps. But sometimes the notifications can become way too much disturbing. You might even feel like throwing your phone all the way across the room. At times, the non-stop chiming and/or vibration can be too much for you to handle.
But fret not. Forest app is here to save the day! ( and you, from your smartphone.)
It works on a simple principle – Plant a tree and stay away from your phone… Unless you want your tree/bush to die. I’ll let the images do the rest of the talking.
The app warns you to stay away from your phone once the tree has been planted, and offers several important bits of advice.
Once you have “planted” the tree, you better stay away from the phone unless you want your virtual tree to die! Yes, the app will kill your precious tree even if you open any app other than dialer messaging. Your tree will also die if you choose to give up.
This app worked wonders for me. It really helps you to stay away from your distracting smartphone in a cool way! If you can stay away from your phone for long enough, you can end up with a garden like the one shown in the picture. The dead trees can be a burden on your conscience! 😛 – one more reason to beat smartphone addiction!
The more you stay away from your phone, the more beautiful your garden will be. Here’s how one of my most productive days on Forest looked like! 😉 😀

Wow this is a great idea! The crazy thing is that my smartphone addiction happens while at work and even at the gym! I hope this tree app is enough to motivate me to stay off for awhile!

That’s cute, but how about planting a real tree next time, everytime you pick up your phone to check on some notifications 😂 it’s a win win and a sure shot way for you to actually leave the phone alone 😂

That’s very good, eco-friendly idea. 🙂 Oh and I should probably update the post to include this point – this app also enables you to contribute your earned points to plant real trees. They have forestation programs underway in over five countries. I agree it isn’t the same as physically planting a tree, but it’s better than doing nothing. 🙂

Wow! Thats a good app indeed then. In fact a blogger friend and I are going to recently start an initiative where we’ll urge the Bloggers and ourselves abstain from using technology for one entire day. It’s going to be every last Sunday of the month. I’ll be glad if you’ll join this initiative and abstain too 😊
