The land and the people sighed with relief,
almost as if in unison…
The rains had come… at last.
They pitter-pattered on my windows,
and managed to captivate me with an astounding view.
The flowers were starting to shyly poke their heads out,
The ground was starting to get swallowed up
by the ever growing green expanse,
Umbrellas became a hot commodity,
progressing to a necessity rather than an accessory.
The roads turned wet, muddy and slippery,
Adventure trails marred by water-filled potholes
of all sizes and shapes.
Each passing vehicle splashed so much muddy water,
that you should count yourself lucky
if you managed to get away without a trace of mud!

Author’s Note:
It’s been a few days since the monsoon arrived here in Kerala but it took me a while to compose this poem! 😉 It’s been raining here every day and I’m pretty sure I’m coming down with a rather nasty cold. But it’s so beautiful (and cold!). And I don’t want the rain to go away! 🙂
P.S: This is my 100th post! Yayyyy. 🎆🎉🎊

Congratulations. If winter comes, can spring be far behind! If hundred comes, two hundreds can not be far behind!!! .

Thank you so much, sir. “If winter comes, can spring be far behind” – That happens to be one of my favourite quotes! 😊 Thank you so much for your kind wishes. I’m so happy and honoured. 😊

Firstly, Congratulations on your hundredth post! A proud moment indeed.
Rains, wow, the one blessing that we are deprived of in this part of the world. Not complaining though, we get to spend a big chunk of the horrid summer months enjoying the lovely monsoons in India.
But where the monsoons are concerned, I love Kerala. The joys of the first rain, the fragrance of the Earth after the first rain and the beauty of greenery can only be appreciated in the rural part of Kerala that remains untouched by the concrete revolution.
So my dear, enjoy. Too bad you have that nasty cold, pakshe still enjoy. Enjoy hot hot vadas and mutta bajis…Oh enikyu veshakunnu!

Thank you so much, dear! I’m surprised that I’ve written so much. 😂 Athu sathyam. Concrete revolution kaaranam greenery is disappearing. But thanks to the lovely monsoons, the climate is more than pleasant! Keralam sundaramanu especially during these seasons! 😊 Oh udane naattilott varunnondo? Ippo pinneyum kuzhappamilla ennu thonunnu. Hot vadas and bajis! 😍 Enikkum kothiyum vishappum varunnu.

The mesmerizing pitter patter of rain
As captivating as Peter Piper’s tune
That led the rats far away
Just may bring a nasty cold your way😆😆
