short story #8: Crow vs Raven…

Aman: It’s a raven.

Rohith: No, it’s a crow. What even makes you think it’s a raven?

A: Crows always travel in groups, ergo, it’s not a crow.

R: Well, ravens mostly travel in pairs. So how come your raven isn’t?

A: It’s not my raven. Wait, so you agree that it’s a raven?

R: Of course not! I, like all the other sane people in this world, know it’s a crow. That’s why I called it your raven since you’re the only one who thinks it’s a raven.

A: Its tail is not shaped like a fan. So its clearly not a crow.

R: Well, its tail is not exactly wedge-shaped like a raven either.

Kushal: Hey guys. Seems like a heated discussion. What are you guys arguing about?

A: Hey Kushal, maybe you can settle this matter for us. That bird is a raven, right?

R: C’mon Kushal, it’s clearly a crow. You’re with me on this one, right?

K: Wait for a second, guys… what bird are we even talking about?

At that moment, Aman and Rohith realized that while they were busy with the crow-raven conundrum, the raven/crow (jury’s still out on that) had flown away.

(200 words)

This post was written in response to the Sunday Photo Fiction prompt and Fandango’s One-Word Challenge for the day: conundrum. Click on the links to read the entries from my fellow bloggers. 🙂

The prompts were the photo of the bird (I still can’t figure out if it’s a raven or a crow) and the word: “conundrum”.

So, what do you think? Is it a raven? Or, is it a crow? I’ll be waiting to hear from you.

    1. Same here. So far, only one of my friends have concluded that it’s a raven. Others were of the opinion that the picture is inconclusive. Anyhow, it made for a great prompt. And thank you, Fandango for your #FOWC conundrum.

    1. Of course I know you’d say that! Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read, Bhaiyya. 😄
Wow, I should name a character of every story of mine after you, right? 😉
