six word story #49

2.1 km separated hope from reality.

This post was written in response to my own Saturday Six Word Story Prompt (6WSP) #2: hope.

In the early hours of 7th September 2019, what was expected to be a historic moment for ISRO turned into a nightmare. At a height of 2.1km above the lunar surface, Vikram suffered a complete loss of communication. Had we managed to pull it off, we would have been the fourth nation after Russia, the USA, and China to successfully soft-land a spacecraft on the lunar surface.

My heart goes out to all the scientists at ISRO. Though the mission may not be a complete success, it was not a failure either. The very fact that we managed to get so close to accomplishing this feat in the first attempt is a matter of pride.

Do not lose hope, ISRO. An entire nation stands behind you. #WithISRO #ISROweareproudofyou
