#AtoZChallenge One-liner: X is for X!

X

(a variable, the worst enemy of anybody who hates Mathematics)

The  variable that Mathematics forced to keep finding, differentiating, and integrating all through our childhood.

If only Mathematics had prepared us for the fact that life forces us to find x,y,z, and many other unknowns without even giving the slightest hints. I miss dear old Mathematics.

If you haven’t guessed it already, Mathematics was one of my favourite subjects. And when I was small, my grandfather used to teach me mathematics. He’s one of the reasons why I have a close bond with mathematics. My love for mathematics is one of the reasons why I chose to be an engineer. πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚

Here’s an interesting fact:

Did you know that the word “hundred” originated from the Old Norse word “hundrath,” which means 120, and not 100!  In Old Norse, “hundrath” means “long hundred,” which equals 120, due to the duodecimal system. Pretty confusing right? No wonder, maths has a lot of problems.

What did you think about this post? Did you hate Mathematics too? How many times has the variable “x” landed you in trouble with your professors?

P.S: Here’s another tiny tale that I wrote about “x” as a part of another AtoZChallenge. πŸ™‚

  1. x has made me question my intelligence plenty of times. I don’t hold any grudges any more. I’ve made my peace with x–on axis and off axis;)
