Acid tongues lashed Unleashing a torrential downpour Of words that spewed out Burning red-hot Tearing through The tender walls Of their listeners' hearts Like a giant active volcano, The hurtful words Flowed like molten lava Fiercely churning Scathingly hot Burning everything That stood in their path Leaving nothing but Charred, broken remains In its wake Though the attacks Were often short-lived The damage they wrought Upon the fragile hearts Lasted very long Too long For time to excise Its healing touch The scars ran deep Invisible Unknown And uncared for By the outside world Safe within the confines Of a shattered heart That has suffered too much
Hurtful words can cause a lot of harm. While the effects might be invisible, they are far from being inconsequential. It’s hard to take back what one has said and equally hard to un-hear nasty stuff too!
