The forest of Wellspell was beautiful and boasted an almost impenetrable canopy. The heart of the forest was home to a well-kept secret for centuries – the land of Erindell. Steep, intensely rocky terrain on all sides isolated Erindell from the rest of the world. To the human eye, Eridell appeared to be a rocky ridge that was covered in stones of all shapes and sizes.
Erindell was a land of enchantment. The grass was green and soft as a baby’s skin, the waters ran clear and blue, the air was pure and all the Erindellians led a peaceful, happy life. A majority of the population consisted of mosquitoes, rats, cockroaches, flies, spiders, snakes, chicken, duck, pigs, turkeys, and livestock. But if one looked closely enough they would be able to spot a few dogs, cats, peacocks, elephants, rhinos, lions, tigers, cheetahs, monkeys, guinea pigs, and many other members of the animal kingdom. Not a single human had ever set foot on Erindell. And they wouldn’t either. The Erindellians were a vastly diverse group, but they had one thing in common – they had all suffered much pain at the hands of humans until Death transported to the wonderful land of Erindell. Now, they were in a much better place. Safe and happy in a land where humans couldn’t hurt them anymore.
This story was written in response to Sue Vincent’s Thursday photo prompt – the #writephoto prompt. The challenge is to use the given photo prompt as an inspiration to create a post on your own blog… poetry, prose, humour… light or dark, whatever you choose, as long as it is fairly family-friendly. Thank you, Sue for hosting this challenge. Click on the link to know more about this challenge and to read the entries by my fellow bloggers.

It sounds heavenly for animals this Erindell. The name sounds Norwegian or possibly from a book by J.R.R. Tolkien. Have you read Lord of the Rings?

It was a random name that popped into my head. So I’ve no idea as to the origin of the word! Oh, no sadly I’ve not read any of his works. 😅

The first one to read is The Hobbit and that one is my favorite. This is how you know it’s a book to read, over 100 million copies sold! Just a suggestion of course. Best wishes, David

Ohhh. I love reading but my busy schedule doesn’t leave me with enough time 😭. Yes it’s on my list and it has been there for a long time. And I’ll read it as soon as possible. Keep the suggestions coming. I’d like that very much. Thank you 😊

Even if such a land existed, I wonder how long it’d last before we exploit that too. Nice one. 🙂

I’d like to think that Erindell is enchanted. So no humans can get in. 😁 Thank you so much for reading. ♥️
