This too shall pass

I looked at the dark stormy sky
Dark rain-laden clouds,
Sailed over my head
Drifting at the wind’s mercy
I watched a quartet of geese
Soar higher and higher
As they made their way
Across the dark sky
I watched them fly away
Their sizes growing smaller
And smaller
Until they were just tiny specks
I envied their freedom
I wished I could soar high
And fly away like them
To all the places
My heart was yearning to visit
I was jealous of their freedom
Free from the panic
That the pandemic had unleashed
If only I had wings,
I could fly too.
At that moment
When hope seemed distant,
I realized that
Every dark cloud
In the dark stormy sky
Had a silver lining
The brightest of linings
Belonged to the darkest of clouds
“I’ll always be there,
You just have to find me”,
Hope whispered to my heart.
And then it dawned on me
Even the darkest nights will end
The stormiest of days will end
Even the harshest of Winters will pass
The hottest of Summers, too
There is always,
A light at the end of the tunnel
This too shall pass,
Don’t give up
Hold on to hope
That’s what will get us through
To the other side.

Author’s Note:

There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. In these difficult times, it might feel hard to hold on to hope, but we should never give up. Remember, this too shall pass.

This poem was written in response to Sue Vincent’s Thursday photo prompt – the #writephoto prompt. The challenge is to use the given photo prompt as an inspiration to create a post on your own blog… poetry, prose, humour… light or dark, whatever you choose, as long as it is fairly family-friendly. Thank you, Sue for hosting this challenge. Click on the links to know more about these challenges and to read the entries by my fellow bloggers.

    1. Thank you so much, Amy. I am happy to hear that. And I am so glad that you paid a visit. Ever since you closed the comments on your blog, I have missed our conversations. I am really enjoying your wonderful pictures but I was unable to express all that I was feeling. Take care, dear. I hope you have a great weekend.
