In the pale white light cast by the Full Moon,
The pond shimmered and shone,
Every ripple momentarily distorting
The lone white Orb in the dark night sky
The night-blooming jasmine slowly bloomed,
Shyly peeking up at her knight in shining armour
They admired each other from afar
Every day, the white prince roamed the night sky
Waxing and waning, until he’s at his brightest
Pining away, in search of his beloved
Who only bloomed in his mystic moonlight
She and her white prince were sidelined
The spotlight never sought them out
The Lotus and her golden prince
Caught most of the attention
And yet it never quite bothered the night lovers
Their love was inferior in no way
To that of the chosen couple
Confined it was, to the mystic moonlight
Away from daylight, and the spotlight,
But they were safe from prying eyes
The white prince was branded a thief,
An imitation, a second fiddle,
Reflecting the light from the golden prince
The night-blooming jasmine never gave up on him,
Their romance only grew stronger
Every month, she waited for her prince
Blooming only when he was in her sight
They drank in each other’s beauty
Making the most of the moment while it lasted,
Until the golden prince chased away her beloved.
This poem was written in response to the past week’s “Tuesday prompt” – mystic moonlight. I chose to write about the relationship of the night-blooming jasmine and the Moon. Now, you might have understood the identities of The White Prince and The Golden Prince! 🙂
The prompt was to write something around the words “mystic moonlight”. Thanks to Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda, who are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge which was started by Christine Ray.

Yes. I’ve always thought of that too.
Aambal was what I had in mind when I wrote this poem. I had to struggle to find the English translation for that. It seems that there are a host of other flowers that bloom based on the lunar cycle. And thanks a lot for your kind words. They have lifted my spirits and made my day. I really needed that. Thanks a lot, dear ♥️🤗
