A Colourful Tapestry

Colours are what make the tapestry of life more interesting.

At times, life may seem like a monotonous journey, neither black nor white, but so many glorious shades of grey.

Life can be imagined anyway we want it to be. People, too. After all, one doesn’t have to pay taxes or any fee for our imagination running wild.

Most people might be putting up a front – a mask (other than the physical mask that our current situation demands!). Every person harbours several feelings and emotions in their hearts. Some emotions might be buried deep in their hearts that not even a trace can be found on their faces.

Eyes, mouth (or rather the words that come out of a person’s mouth), and thinking processes can be the golden gateways to the “real” person.. the one behind the mask.

If we could portray humans as colour particles, each and every one of us would shine brightly, in many hues and shades.

And if one were to observe keenly, the convergence of colours will be even more beautiful and colourful than a rainbow!

Happiness will stand out as pink or even yellow!
Compassion as rose red
Love as a lighter shade of red
Anger as a dark shade of red, or even purple!

Curiosity might glow a bright orange
Whereas suspicion might glow a lighter shade of orange

Cowardice will be a light yellow
Fear, a slighter dark yellow
Bravery will be the darkest among yellows

Envy might claim light green
Greed, a darker shade of green
But jealousy will be the darkest green

Serenity might claim turquoise
But the sadness will be a light blue,
The shades of blue turning deeper,
As the intensity of sadness increases,

Passion might glow a bright red or even violet!
Confusion might claim gray
Grief, death, and evil might shine black
Spirituality will shed a gold light
And anything magical might shine silver!

Purity, hope, light, and goodness,
The highest among virtues,
Might lay a claim to white!

It might seem like an eclectic mix,
But it’s a glorious mix.
Every component might seem insignificant,
But they unite, blending effortlessly,
Giving rise to a bigger picture –
Complex beings who are unique,
Colourful and special in their own way.
Their colours might be the same
But their patterns will be worlds apart!

Author’s Note:

My style of writing has changed drastically over the past two days. With this prompt, I just let my mind wander and went where it took me.

Here’s what was running through my mind as I wrote this post. We might experience many emotions, and feelings. Some might be transient while others might stay a while. Though we may have these emotions and/or feelings in common, we are all different… and special in our own way.

I hope you enjoyed this rather different take on the prompt!

This post was written in response to Sadje’s What Do You See #42 prompt. Thank you, Sadje for hosting this challenge. The challenge is to use the picture prompt as inspiration to compose an original story, poem, or a caption.

For the visually challenged reader, the image shows face of a woman. It is painted with luminous glitter paint and the features are highlighted with bright yellow lines, ending in a question mark on the forehead.
