tiny tale #85: The hardest choice…

He voluntarily underwent quarantine.
He missed his last chance to see his father.
He chose safety over attending the funeral.

(20 words)

This story was inspired by a real-life incident. A man had travelled to his native place from a foreign country. His father had been in a critical state which was the reason why he made the trip. However, he passed away when his son landed. And the son voluntarily went up to a quarantine facility and checked himself in, despite knowing the fact that doing so will mean that he will miss the funeral. But he didn’t want to put anyone’s life at risk just so that he could see his father once again.. for one last time! In an even more sad twist of fate, his result came back negative after the 14 days of quarantine. My heart breaks at the very thought of all that this young man had to go through! 😦

This post was written in response to the Twenty-Word Tuesday: Week 3 prompt. Thank you, Bulbul for hosting this challenge. The challenge is to weave a tale in exactly 20 words based on the given word prompt. The prompt for this week was “Quarantine”. 1. How sad.. even one of my close friends had the same experience. He is still i quarantine and his father passed away on the third day of his arrival !! Harshness of the disease in all rude forms !!

  2. Very nice story, horrible subject but too much in all our minds now. I am in quarantine and was tested this morning after a “friend” invaded my space and hugged me, sans mask. I’ve had some mild symptoms but it could very well be due to stress and concern, so until I hear something I’m just trying to keep my brain occupied with other things. Keep up your good works Shweta. I’m getting tired of fighting the world and trying to quit, but old habits are hard to break.

    1. Omg! I hope that you’re doing fine. People can be so blinded by emotions. I hope that those mild symptoms are just stress and concern. Yes, old habits are hard to break indeed. Thanks a lot, dear. I will keep writing. I hope you’re safe and well.
