six word story #93

Too much water ruined the upma.

This post was written in response to my own Saturday Six Word Story Prompt (6WSP) #56: Water. Click on the link to read entries from my fellow bloggers.

Author’s Note:

Upma (or uppumavu as it is called in my mother tongue) is a South Indian breakfast that is made from dry-roasted semolina. Too much water can totally ruin the upma. And yes, no prizes for guessing – I have ruined upma by adding too much water. I have done it so many times – more than what I an count!

This prompt really threw me. I couldn’t come up with anything else in 6 words! So here is my half-baked attempt.

  1. 😅😅😅 Didn’t expect this tragic story here. Good one! And of course, this is the saga of every homemaker. Personally I like my upma watery, love to have them warm with that smooth texture sliding down my throat, instead of battling with hardened lumps of semolina, wondering whether I should break the chunks or chew them in my mouth 😅

    1. I was kind of running out of inspiration. Haha. Now that’s a very positive approach to a watery upma. In my case, the water becomes too much that I have to let it boil and simmer for a while to attain that smooth texture. My grandmother prefers the soft upma too. 😃
