Dusk prepares to settle down The golden prince takes his leave A cloud of misty vapour veils his exit The ripples in the lake care not that the day has given way to night Having had his fill of the beautiful scenery the lone child at the pier hurries home, hurrying to get home before darkness descends and clouds his vision. The pall of darkness slowly envelops the air. The silver prince gets ready to assume the throne, the one left empty by the golden prince. The day ends, the night falls.
This poem was written in response to Sadje’s What Do You See prompt #83. Thank you, Sadje for hosting this challenge. The challenge is to use the picture prompt as inspiration to compose an original story, poem, or a caption. This was my last minute take on the prompt.
For the visually challenged reader, the image shows wooden pier extending into a lake. The sky overhead is partly cloudy with sun trying to peep.

Beautiful imagery. The child’s ‘fill’ must be pretty wonderful if we can peep into it😊. The ‘golden prince’ metaphor is superb.

Brought back memories. I used to draw those typical mountains with sun in between. 😃

I’m glad this reminded you of those times. Me too! That was the only thing I could draw. Alternating lines of red and yellow with crayons to show the sun’s rays. I sucked at shading, and drawing too. A triangle on top of a square made up a house and then I drew humans as stick figures. 😂

Even I sucked at shading and drawing. Could never replicate what I was trying to draw. 😂

Same here! Unless I used tracing paper. But even then, I somehow managed to screw up 😂
This conversation has given me an idea for a new blog post!

What’re you gonna write about??

How I sucked at drawing and arts in general. Also, all those childhood memories before smart phones, YouTube and streaming services entered our lives.

Before smartphones? I used to explore streets on my bicycle. 😂

Quite a childhood and a life we had back then. Untouched by covid, black and yellow fungus and what not.

I have never read any comics. Never really cared. But then the MCU came along and I got addicted to those movies.

Golden and Silver Prince. Sun and Moon. Beautiful crafting. Loved the imagery formed. The second para of the child hurrying home resonates with the childhood days.
