Nature is a great teacher
But alas! humans never learn
I wish we could be like fire
Fiery and unyielding
The only weapon against darkness
Nature is a great teacher
But alas! humans never learn
I wish we could be like the plants
Peaceful and giving
Restoring the life force – oxygen!
Nature is a great teacher
But, alas, humans never learn
I wish we could be like the air
Flexible and powerful when she wants to be
Spreading her touch, far, and near
Nature is a great teacher
But, alas, humans never learn
I wish we could be like water
Sparkling and crystal clear
Leaving an impact wherever it flows
Nature is a great teacher
But, alas, humans never learn
I wish we could be like Earth
Nourishing and nurturing
Sustaining life of all forms, sizes, and shapes
Nature is a great teacher
But, alas, humans never learn
I wish we could be like the animals
Carefree and close to Mother Nature
Living without causing harm to Nature
Nature is a great teacher
But, alas, humans never learn
I wish we could be more sustainable
Protecting, preserving and conserving
Nature and all her resources
Future generations need a home too
A safe, stable and cool home
One that’s not in any danger of collapsing
From all the harm and damage
That we have inflicted over the years
Nature and her resources provide us with anything and everything that we could possibly need. And yet, we do not treat her with the care, attention, love and respect that she deserves. It is high time that we take actions to protect Earth, Mother Nature, individually and collectively, for our own sakes and that of the future generations.
This post was written in response to Eugi’s Weekly prompt for this week – Nature. The challenge is to go where the prompt leads you and publish a post on your own blog that responds to the given word or image prompt. Click on the link to know more about this challenge and to read the entries by my fellow bloggers. Thank you, Eugenia for hosting this challenge. 🙂
For the visually challenged readers, the given image prompt shows a computerized image of a large body of water surrounded by red flowers on the banks, a row of pine trees and mountains in the background. A part of the moon can be seen through a gap in clouds in the dark night sky.

Beautifully penned. Indeed to sustain Nature for the future, we have to learn from her.

Loved this poem Shweta. Wish we could really learn from nature and accept her as our teacher, only then can we give her her due respect.💖
