Running was what he did best And he did so with much zest. He ran away from problems And he ran away from quarrels. He ran away from responsibilities And he denied all liabilities. Never did he have to face consequences. He left all his troubles for others. He ran and ran, Avoiding one obstacle after the other Achieving one escape after the other. He thought he was safe Untouched by life's harsh realities Until death finally caught up with him. And at last, he failed to escape He couldn't run away From the clutches of death!
This poem was written in response to Sadje’s What Do You See prompt #86. Thank you, Sadje for hosting this challenge. The challenge is to use the picture prompt as inspiration to compose an original story, poem, or a caption.
For the visually challenged reader, the image shows a stretch of empty road. There is a man in running shoes taking a leaping jump over the yellow dividing line on the road.

A wonderful poem Shweta. I loved reading it and it flowed so nicely. I sort of felt carried along, as if I was running away with him. But I wouldn’t have run for as long as he did.
