Tick tock, Tick tock, Time doesn't wait for anyone Nor does it rewind And offer us a chance To re-live our favourite moments Time is its own boss The master of almost everything! The scariest of alarms The healer of the deepest of wounds One who can erase Even the ugliest of memories From our minds and hearts Tick tock, tick tock Moves the hands of the clock They keep moving Without even the briefest of breaks Effortlessly and unapologetically Without a care in the world Indifferent to the ones struggling To catch up With the gruelling pace But time isn't always fast And it plays many tricks On unsuspecting humans Occasionally, Time moves slowly Even the slowest of snails Would be beaten As Time creeps along Extremely, painfully slow Especially when you want it to run Boring lectures, countdowns Trigger the slower phases Excitement, enjoyment, and fun Trigger the faster phases When Time runs exceedingly fast Especially because you want more time Though you'd give anything For the time to not run out Or run past you In the blink of an eye It will never slow down When you wish Time would run faster It drags on, And on and on, Time does the exact opposite Of what we could wish for But there's nothing we can do Time cannot be tamed. Each day brings a fresh 86400 seconds But some feel longer And some feel short Time seems to be bewitched at times It seems likely That we are all under its spell, Unable to challenge Time, Its peculiar ways and tricks And so we resort to following it Blindly, unquestioningly Suppressing our doubts As soon as they arise In our minds
This was a poem that I had originally published a while ago. But it seemed very apt for Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #125. The challenge is to write a flash fiction piece or a poem inspired by the given photo prompt. Thanks to Fandango for hosting this challenge. For the visually challenged writer, the photo is of four clocks on a wall showing current times in four different cities.

A well thought-out poem. You have covered many aspects. It is true that time is both a healer and a cruel manipulator. Good going.
