The playdate

Carefree playdate
Fun won over cleanliness
Dirt didn't deter them
Puppy and his human played
Covered in mud, yet happy!

This story was written in response to Dakshali’s Saturday Picture Prompt Plate a.k.a PPP #3. The challenge is to use the given photo prompt and create an original poem, prose, story or anything related to the picture. Thank you, Dakshali for hosting this challenge. Click on the link to know more about this challenge and to read the entries by my fellow bloggers.

For virtually handicapped, the picture shows a girl covered in mud (her face, hair, hands, frock) and holding a muddy puppy.

This is my first Tanka. The picture that Dakshali had chosen was too cute to pass up. Initially, I wanted to write a story based on the picture but somehow that ended up being my first attempt at Tanka poetry!
