Scars

You can try to pull me down
hurt me with harsh words
break my spirit
set up obstacles in my way
and knock me down
but I will never give up!
I bear the scars from all the fights
and I wear them proudly
they might make me flawed
but to me, they are reminders
of all the battles I have faced
they are proofs of my perseverance.
Each scar tells a different story
stories, ripe with lessons
lessons that helped me grow
lessons that transformed me
into a better version of myself.
Scars and battles don't faze me
I am determined to keep fighting
at all costs
for all that is fair and right

Scars, both physical and otherwise, tell a story of the fights you have ever fought. They are not flaws. In the journey if life’s ups and downs, it is hard to walk away without a single scar. But they teach us valuable lessons and are a proof of all that we have survived. Alessia Cara’s Scars To Your Beautiful was playing in my head as I wrote this poem. It’s a beautiful song.
