the green monster rears its hideous head
fed by insecurity
and destroys happiness
Jealousy can ruin so many bonds. The green-eyed monster mostly arises from lack of self-doubt and self-confidence and it can led to disastrous effects if left unchecked. What are your thoughts about jealousy?
This Kimo on jealousy was written in response to the August Scavenger Hunt challenge hosted by Val at A Different Perspective. Val has given us 13 prompts lots of short forms of poetry to complete by August 31st.
Kimo poems are an Israeli version of haiku. Apparently, there was a need for more syllables in Hebrew. That said, most of the rules are still familiar:
- 3 lines.
- No rhymes.
- 10 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 6 in the third.
Also, the kimo is focused on a single frozen image (kind of like a snapshot). So it’s uncommon to have any movement happening in kimo poems. To know more about this challenge, click here.

I read the title as ‘a kimono’ at first. Ha! No Japanese clothes in this one. Instead, it’s a clever form of poetry that you did so well. I agree to, when jealousy erupts instead of feeding the green monster we must look at ourselves and discover the root of the feeling in order to heal it.

Haha. It’s definitely not a Kimono 😂😂
Our eyes can play tricks on us at times. Thanks a lot for your encouraging words, Mason. That’s so true..I completely agree with you. When jealousy erupts, we should find out the root cause and heal it rather than fed it more. Beautifully put.

I’m terrible at editing because brain makes up what’s on the page rather than reading whats there.
You’re welcome!

It happens to me at times too especially when I’m in a bit of a hurry. Have a good day, Mason 😃

Yes, I always read through then put grammerley in and if I have time read again before sharing.

I always type it in Grammarly too! And I proofread. But there are times when certain typos escape all scrutiny!

Yup! Some typos and errors seem to hide when we edit and then creep back into the story later don’t they.

Oh yes. And sometimes my readers point those out to me. That’s a total face palm moment!

Yeah, it’s so embarressing when its a simple error and after 3 edits it slipped though.

Oh yes. I know that feeling. It makes me feel so bad!!!

We have to remember that even computers cant find all errors so we have no chance and can only do the best we can. I have a disclaimer in my site that says. ‘all typos and grammatical errors are intentional as I couldn’t find them!’ lol

That’s true. Lol! That’s a hilarious disclaimer. Good one, Mason!

Nicely penned Shweta.. Jealousy truly destroys unless you look inside at what you can change.

Well done! Jealousy is a dangerous and destructive force… Best to avoid it though many seem to harbor and nurture it….
