Hunted down – a tiny-tale

Once upon a time, I was real. Yes, dragons were real. As real as the air you breathe in. My entire species were trusted companions of humans. We were their winged transporters, helping them soar to greater heights. But humankind grew greedy and in their greed, they saw the world through a different eye. They grew insecure and worried that we might snatch glory and land from them. They trusted us no longer and instead, they hunted us down. Murder was how humankind rewarded us for our loyal services. They ensured that we were wiped off the face of the earth and that we were reduced to a mystical character in history. Stories were weaved about us but science remained tight-lipped. The glory of our victoried were burnt at stake along with us and our deaths remain unavenged.

I have always wondered if dragons were real. There are so many stories and legends about them. But no one has ever seen a live dragon and no fossils have ever been unearthed either. Have you ever wondered about dragons? Do let me know.
