Heartbeat

Why do hearts beat?
They never miss a beat
struggling against the rib cage?
I have always wondered
Is it because they can't talk?
Or is it because...
of all the feelings and emotions
suppressed for too long
Oh, if only hearts could talk...

Have you ever wondered about this? This poem might sound silly to some of you. Of course, unless they beat, they can’t pump blood and keep it flowing throughout our body. I just wanted to explore that poetically. 😎😜

This poem is brought to you by my imagination that has returned to me after a hiatus. Last week was a bit challenging for me. I was forced to step back from my blog and relax. This was the reason why I haven’t been around to read your blogs, reply to your comments or approve the pingbacks. This weekend, I finally got some time to sit and write. I am so relieved that the words are flowing again. It’s such a joy to be able to write something.

This poem was written in response to Quadrille #134: We {heart} poems. The Quadrille Monday challenge is to come up with a poem in exactly 44 words (not including the title) which contains some form of the word “heart”. Thank you, whimsygizmo for hosting this challenge.
